🚫 Zero-Tolerance Policy
RateMyBody.net has a zero-tolerance policy on non-consensual intimate images. This includes any intimate or sexual image of a real person shared without their explicit consent, regardless of:
- Whether the image was originally taken with or without consent
- Whether the person is identifiable or not
- Whether the image was taken in a private or semi-public setting
- The relationship between the uploader and the depicted person
- Whether the image was originally shared voluntarily (e.g. privately with a partner)
Uploading such content will result in: immediate permanent removal of the content, a permanent account ban, and potential referral to law enforcement. We retain IP addresses and account data and cooperate fully with authorities in any jurisdiction.
🆘 If You Are Depicted in Images Here
Act fast — the sooner you report, the sooner the content is removed. You do not need an account on this site to make a report.
For the fastest removal, email us directly: legal@ratemybody.net with the subject line "NCII Removal Request". Include the URL of the content if you have it. We aim to action confirmed NCII reports within 24 hours.
Step-by-step process:
- Report the content immediately. Use the ⚠️ Report button on the photo or video page and select "Non-Consensual / Revenge Porn" — or use our contact form.
- Confirm you are the person depicted. We may ask you to confirm your identity to protect against bad-faith takedown requests. We handle this discreetly and your identity information is not shared with anyone.
- Content is reviewed and removed. Confirmed NCII is removed immediately and the uploader account is permanently banned. The content is not archived anywhere on our systems after removal.
- You receive confirmation. We will email you to confirm removal. If you provided identifying information as part of the process, it is deleted once removal is complete.
We also recommend registering your images with StopNCII.org — a free service run by the Revenge Porn Helpline that creates a digital fingerprint of your intimate images. Participating platforms (including major ones) automatically block those fingerprints network-wide, preventing re-uploads without you ever having to share the images themselves. stopncii.org →
⚖️ This Is a Serious Crime
Sharing intimate images of another person without their consent is a criminal offence in Finland, across the EU, and in most US states. "Getting back at" someone by sharing private images is not a grey area — it is prosecuted.
🇫🇮 Finland (server jurisdiction)
- Criminal Code Chapter 24 §8 — Distribution of a private sexual image (yksityiselämää loukkaavan tiedon levittäminen): sharing intimate images of a person without their consent is punishable by fines or up to 2 years imprisonment.
- Uploading to an online platform specifically to cause distress or reputational harm can be charged under aggravated provisions.
- Finnish authorities actively pursue these cases including via mutual legal assistance treaties with other countries.
🇪🇺 European Union
- Digital Services Act (DSA, Regulation 2022/2065), Article 16: Victims of illegal content (including NCII) have a right to submit formal notices requiring platforms to act. Platforms must act expeditiously or lose their safe harbour protection. The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) enforces the DSA in Finland.
- GDPR (Regulation 2016/679): Intimate images are sensitive personal data. Processing them without consent is unlawful under Article 9. You may lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuojavaltuutettu) at tietosuoja.fi.
- Most EU member states also have dedicated national laws criminalising non-consensual intimate image sharing.
🇺🇸 United States
- SHIELD Act (2022): Federal law criminalising the non-consensual sharing of intimate visual depictions — punishable by up to 5 years in federal prison.
- State laws: All 50 states now have some form of NCII or revenge-porn statute. Many classify distribution as a felony, with civil damages available to victims.
- Section 230: Platforms are not liable for third-party uploads, but we voluntarily act swiftly on NCII reports regardless of legal obligation.
🛡️ How We Detect and Remove NCII
- All uploads are reviewed by our moderation team before or immediately after going live.
- We use perceptual hashing to detect known NCII images that have been flagged via StopNCII.org hash-matching.
- Our AI moderation flags content that exhibits patterns consistent with non-consensual photography (hidden-camera angles, covert framing, etc.).
- Reports from users and direct victim reports are actioned within 24 hours — sooner for clear-cut cases.
- Confirmed NCII is permanently deleted from our systems and not retained in backups.
- Uploaders are permanently banned and may be referred to authorities depending on severity and jurisdiction.
