🔍 What Happened?

On April 27, 2026, a minor bypassed our age restrictions and uploaded inappropriate content of themselves to the AI rating system. The AI content filters, which are intended to detect and block such uploads, did not catch this particular submission.

The content was visible within the platform for approximately 36 hours before it was identified and removed.

The delay in detection was due to two compounding factors: a national public holiday during which reduced staff monitoring was in place, and the absence of a user-facing reporting mechanism specifically for AI rating uploads at that time. Without an in-platform report button, the only way for users to alert us was through the general contact form — adding time to the response.

⚙️ What We Did About It

Once the content was identified, it was removed immediately and access was terminated. We then reviewed surrounding activity and took appropriate action on the account involved.

In response to this incident, we have made the following changes:

• Report mechanism added: A report button has been added to AI rating uploads so users can flag inappropriate content directly and quickly, without needing to navigate to a general contact form.
• Improved staff monitoring procedures: We have updated our internal process for monitoring the AI rating system during periods of reduced staff availability, including public holidays.
• AI filter review: We reviewed the AI content classification settings to understand why this upload was not automatically blocked and are taking steps to reduce the likelihood of similar failures.
• Policy reinforcement: Our Terms of Service and help documentation have been updated to make explicit that the minimum age for uploads is 18 for sexual or nude content — and that the AI's output does not constitute permission. Uploading while underage is a violation of our Terms of Service regardless of whether the AI returned a rating.

🧒 A Note on Child Safety

We take child safety extremely seriously. Our AI system serves as an automated content gate, but as this incident demonstrates, it is not infallible. We do not claim otherwise.

The minimum age to submit sexual or nude content on RateMyBody.net is 18. This is a firm rule — not a threshold that the AI decides on a case-by-case basis. If you are under 18, you may not upload sexual or nude content. The AI classifying and returning a rating does not mean the upload was permitted.

If you ever see content on our platform that you believe involves a minor, please report it immediately using the report button available on all uploads, or contact us directly through contact.php. Speed matters in these situations and we rely on our users to help keep the platform safe.

We sincerely apologise to any user who encountered this content, and to anyone affected by the delay in its removal. You should not have had to see it, and the response should have been faster.

To the users who reported the incident through the contact form — thank you. Your reports are what triggered the removal, and we are grateful. The report mechanism that now exists on AI rating uploads exists in part because of this incident.

We recognise that this is a serious matter and we are committed to doing better.
